Fiona Curran - notes from artist talk

Yayoi Kusama - Obliteration room

The space was completely white to begin with and people were each given a sheet of circles to place anywhere around the room to slowly fill the space with colour. I like the participation element to the work that makes everyone who takes part a collaborator in making the piece.

In my own work I have been thinking a lot about the compositions of my pieces in how to better improve the visuals. So maybe allowing others to choose where to put the dots would help to improve the way they look. This could work really well for live datasets too where the numbers are continually increasing everyday to add to the work over a set period of time and allow the data to be visually tracked in an interactive way.
